Jr. Blues acquire two Austin Bruins; say goodbye to Cody Dixon

September 27- Springfield, IL

The Springfield Jr. Blues acquired two players from the Austin Bruins early Thursday morning.

Forward Devin Mitchell and defensemen Simon Koscielski have been added to the Jr. Blues lineup in exchange for veteran defenseman Cody Dixon. Both players bring size and grit to a young team.

Mitchell, a 94 birth year, from Lenexa, Kansas tallied a goal in his first three games this year for the Bruins. Mitchell stands 6 feet 3 inches tall and weights-in at 202 pounds. He played last season with the Russell Stover Midget Major team.  Mitchell posted 21 goals and 17 assists in 40 games in the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League.

Koscielski, a 93 birth year, from Granger, Indiana appeared in 2 games this year for the Bruins. Koscielski stand 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs-in at 207 pounds. Last season he played for Chicago Mission Midget Major team. He totaled 3 goals and 3 assists for 6 points in 24 HPHL games, including 2 power play goals.

“We are excited to trade for Devin and Simon. Both of these players will give us size and depth we have been looking for. Both guys should step in here and help out our team immediately” said Coach Zasowski.
