The
Springfield Jr. Blues look to get on the winning-side of things over
the weekend as they will host the division’s first-place Port Huron
Fighting Falcons both tonight and tomorrow.
Both
Friday and Saturday night will have the puck dropping at 7:05 pm inside
the Nelson Center. All kids wearing Springfield Kings’ jerseys will get
in free. General admission tickets for adults are $10 and
veterans/seniors and kids under 18 are $5.
Port
Huron is coming off a weekend series split at home against the Soo
Eagles. The Fighting Falcons’ lost Friday night 2-1, then followed it up
Saturday with a 3-2 win in a shootout. Springfield, on the other hand,
is coming off two losses last weekend at Jamestown. They lost 4-3 in a
shootout on Friday night, then lost 2-1 on Saturday on a goal with 17
seconds remaining.
Port
Huron has been a good team at spreading the wealth up to this point so
far. The team leader in points is Evan Mark Auk (7 Assists, 2 goals)
with nine points—followed by three players with seven points. Defensemen
Ryan Nick, and Auk have combined to score sixteen points. Forwards’ Ian
Miller and Rick DeRosa both have seven points on the season, as they
have combined for four goals and ten assists.
Fighting
Falcons’ starting goalie Max Milosek is 8-1-0 on the season as he has
allowed just nineteen goals in nearly 600 minutes on the ice. He has a
2.06 goals against average—and has a save-percentage of .935.
Port
Huron has scored thirty-eight goals on the season compared to
Springfield’s twenty-one; and have given up twenty-six goals compared to
our thirty-three. Port Huron is being outscored 11-to-5 in first
periods this season, and the first period is the only one the Blues’
have outscored their opponents on this season (8-5).
The
Jr. Blues are led by forwards’ Brett Skibba (9 points) and James McGing
with seven, as both have combined to light up the lamp seven times.
Defenseman Jack Sloan has scored six points with all coming from the
assisting circle, and he will have a busy series against some very good
opponents. Matt Leon has started in six games between the pipes (1-3-2-
in six starts; 2.76 GAA), maintaining a .921 save-percentage.
