The Early-Morning Saturday Squander on the Jr. Blues

Good early morning to all of my fellow readers, followers, and of course Junior Blues family on this beautiful Saturday, indeed.

Nothing is better than waking up the morning following a huge victory--and that doesn't go for just the coaches and players, but for the fans that support the team as well.

While the season didn't start off quite the way that some of us had hoped for, the team chemistry is finally starting to come together. Following a 1-4-1 start to the season, team captain Mike Fazio and the Junior Blues enter tonight's weekend finale in Kansas against the Roadrunners looking for there fourth straight win, which would make all of them against two of the top teams in the league as they swept first-place Port Huron last week at home.

So far this season, through the first thirteen games, Springfield has scored 32 goals compared to them total allowed of 38. Brett Skibba has been a huge plus for the team as he leads them in points with fourteen totals with ten goals scored. Outside of Skibba though, Jordan Russell is second on the team in scoring with three goals--but the next top goal scorers all have two, which is a total of nine different players.

Also, I would like to give a big personal shout out to the newest part of the Junior Blues family, Devin Mitchell. Mitchell was acquired in a trade earlier this week from Austin as he was apart of the Cody Dixon deal. In his first game in a Springfield uniform though, Mitchell found the back of the net for the first time all season.

Anybody who knows much about this team, or has been around them, knows exactly what COULD happen. This is a very solid young bunch of kids that are mixed with very solid veterans. If Matt Leon can continue his performance between the pipes, head coach Tony Zaowaski is definitely the right-minded man to lead them.

Trust me ladies and gentleman, being from the heartland of Illinois and being a die-hard fan of the Saint Louis Cardinals baseball team, I have witnessed many times with no own two eyes' that ANYTHING is impossible, indeed.
