Springfield Goals against Janesville (Credits to Nalkil Productions)

The Springfield Jr. Blues swept the two game weekend home series this past weekend as they defeated division-rival Janesville on both Friday and Saturday nights inside the Nelson Center.

The Jr. Blues were carried to a 5-3 win on Friday against the Jets behind two goals apiece from both James McGing and Nate Chasteen. Also, starting goalie Matt Leon had yet another impressive performance in between the pipes, and won his third straight start for the season.

On Saturday night, it was a different story. Following the Jets starting goalie Brock Kautz holding the Jr. Blues to no goals through the first 53-minutes of the game, they ended it with a bang. After trailing 1-to-0 following a Janesville goal mid way through the second, Brett Skibba tied the game up at one. With less than four minutes left in the game, following Skibba's goal, Mike Fazio scored two goals himself. He scored the eventual game-winning goal at the 16:30 mark, then followed it up with an empty-net goal with 14 seconds left--leading the Jr. Blues to the fifth win in their last six games.
